Between 1990 and 2000, responsibility included playing a key role in the planning and delivery of Manchester Airport’s controversial second runway, the only new full length runway completed in the UK since WW2. This was delivered in only 10 years, from inception to completion, which is widely considered an exceptionally short timescale for a project of this scale.

During this time, this highly complex and often sensitive project required delivery of a wide range of strategic areas, including: Option appraisal, design, master planning, land assembly, political influencing, public inquiry, PR, discharging of planning conditions, contractor procurement and security regime.
